Hi Steve,

I am currently exploring the use of sharepoint on the iPad at the University of Central Lancashire. The main use for the iPad has been amongst senior managers (meetings, board meetings etc) and are main problem has been surrounding the editing of documents and the re uoploading to sharepoint. I have had a look at Shareplus as an app and am going to explore the use of this with QuickOfficeHD for editing, but any advice you could offer would be well recieved. If you can offer any assitance please dont hesistate to contact me

Well thank you Tom on this extremely informative post. I had been considering lately how you would construct forms on a website as I need to include a few in the near future for one or two different purposes to help people with managing their budgets, I need them to be able to provide certain details to me to be able to assist. One question I have is; can a Wordpress site be a Sharepoint Site? Or does it need to be a separate domain? I have selected to be notified of further comments via email so that I may see your response. Thanks again Tom, your post was informative and very well put together.

Thanks for your post. I was writing javascript by hand (http://royaline.wordpress.com/2011/08/12/how-to-add-a-new-item-to-a-sharepoint-list-using-javascript-and-the-lists-asmx-web-service/) to create the SOAP Envelope and not even using jQuery. Using jQuery as outlined in your post obviously makes things so much easier.

Marc Anderson created the SPServices jQuery Library (http://spservices.codeplex.com) that is worth looking into. Using his SPServices library has reduced the amount of code I've had to write and made things so much easier!

Thanks again for your post.

Do you know how to get all the columns from the list?

I've been trying to get the attributes of the <z:row ... to get the ows_... fields, and it's working in FF and Chrome, but not in IE. IE doesn't seem to be recognizing that the z:rows have attributes.

this.attributes returns nothing in IE but a big list of attributes on chrome/FF

Dear Gary/Wahid,

did you ever get this to work from a network drive?

I added to farm account (spfarm) with full control to the folder containing the script but no such luck. I will now move everything to local - which is a shame - because I would prefer running from a network drive...

Yes. The easiest and perhaps most efficient way is to filter in the query sent to the list in CAML format. Take a look a the CAML Query Editor form U2U for examples. The dataset returned would then only contain the rows you want. Alternatively, the resulting JQuery result can be filtered using standard JQuery select statements using statements like 'contains'
